Ash Wednesday Compline

Lent Logo

Compline, or night prayer is a simple service that marks the ending of the day, often said by those living in monastic communities but also increasingly used by individuals at home.

The form we shall use is part of the regular pattern of daily prayer of the Church of England that includes both Morning and Evening Prayer. At Compline this evening we shall also use the penitential rite of Ash Wednesday and there is the option to receive the mark of the cross in ash if you wish. This is an outward symbol of our penitent hearts and willingness to walk the way of the cross.

The service lasts approximately half an hour.
